Short Courses - Learn Something New

Learning a new craft or skill keeps your mind and body active, gives you a chance to make new friends, and it's fun! There's no need to play safe, this is the time to indulge in all the things you wanted to do when you were younger but didn't have the time, courage, money or whatever.

Options for learning range from include practical to artistic to intellectual...

  • Cooking - spice up your life with a new cuisine or healthier cooking. Try new ingredients and revisit old favourites. If you've downsized in your family meals - I went from a peak of cooking for 7 adult-sized appetites to just two or one person, lots of recipes become more manageable.

  • Gardening - redesign your garden to suit your new circumstances. Learn about organic gardening and grow some food to use in your new recipes, start a nature garden. Check your local garden centre for courses, gardening clubs, visit open gardens for ideas.

  • Writing

  • Art and/or Craft courses

  • Car maintenance or handyman skills. These are especially useful if you've always had a partner to look after such things and now you have to do them yourself.
